I have been thinking the past few days about the schedule because I think sooner rather than later, races at Texas and possibly Toronto could be in trouble. I am resigned to the fact that oval tracks, especially for indycar, are a tough sell. Keeping that in mind, I see very few possibilities for ovals. If it were me, I would give Kentucky (based on where the TV ratings come from) another shot before I would try Homestead again, which was rumored a while back. The series needs to make having a race in Canada a priority even if Toronto does not come back. I also think Mexico would be something to look into. I am not crazy about two Indy road course races, but if it helps make the NASCAR weekend successful, it makes sense. I would like to see something done in regards to Iowa, but that is a longshot so maybe in order to add oval count, the series makes Gateway a doubleheader. In short, keep the schedule as is but replace the oval races at Texas with Kentucky and either Iowa (longshot) or a second at Gateway, stay in Canada (somewhere) and look into Mexico. That would be a solid 18 races in my opinion.
What does anyone else think?

For ovals I have a few ideas: Do Milwaukee but on the 4th of July weekend and make it “retro/throwback” race. To me Milwaukee is to Indycar as Darlington is to NASCAR. By making it a throwback race and having it on the 4th that wound be a great way to attract fans. NASCAR has killed the 4th weekend by moving it away from Daytona, and here indycar can establish something I think can work. Also depending on the new car & Engine, maybe Dover or New Hampshire. I’m thinking of less then 1.5 miles here. Even maybe(prob a big pipe dream) Rocknigham in nc or Richmond. (Too bad The Andrettis could not buy Nazareth and fix it up, that be perfect)Also I think trying to get a race in the Tulsa/OKC area would be smart. You look at the tv ratings and there usually top 5 in areas that watched indycar. Gonig to Canada and Mexico is a must cause some of your big stars are from those areas and the fan support is there to back it up. Also Gonig to Japan & Australia (surfers) would be on my list as well. Maybe even try Europe or Brazil again? IMO 20-24 races is good.

Even maybe(prob a big pipe dream) Rocknigham in nc or Richmond. Rockingham only holds 34,000 fans, IF the bleachers are still in good shape, which is a big reason Bruton Smith pulled his NASCAR dates there. That and the market was saturated with a half dozen of his tracks in the same market. It is a unique layout, and would work better for IndyCar than NASCAR, but, infrastructure. Atlanta would seem like a good market for IndyCar. The cars would be stupid fast there though. Kentucky is a storage facility now for wayward vehicles. That's a shame, they had really nice facilities there, and nibbled at the Cincinnati, Louisville, and Lexington markets. COTA seems to be a good replacement for Texas, a couple hours from Austin, San Antionio, Houston, and Dallas. I (more than anyone) hate to see the ovals going away. I'm just more and more convinced the demographics just don't match up anymore.

I’m verry curious about people’s thoughts on this this to me is prob the most aspiring “pipe dream” I have. Maybe instead of Atlanta motor speedway why not road Atlanta? Again I think you can get better racing with ovals less then 1.5 but it all depends (and this is a BIG if) on how the racing is with the new cars.

If Milwaukee were to ever be attempted again, I agree with you that there needs to be a catch, or a big feel atmosphere. It may not be realistic but I’m all for figuring out ways to go to Milwaukee and Iowa. Along with Indianapolis, Road America, and Barber those are my favorite tracks. Oh, and Cleveland but I think that ship has certainly sailed.

According the graham in 2019 @ Barber when I asked him, “all about the title sponsors” if what I’m hearing it true his pops might save Iowa so if he can do that maybe he can help Cleveland, although Iowa being saved is due to him and hyvee so I don’t think “Bobby Rahal Honda/Automotive” would be enough to help Cleveland like I’d thought would happen. But that was always one if not my fave race of the year cause according to the late great “uncle Bobby” they can race harder there cause the fear of getting is lessened due to the layout o track. Is the Sanair raceway still in good condition? It be a different Canadian race? Also crosses a different oval off the list.

Milwaukee COULD work, if the right promoter was running it. The last several people rented the track, hired some help, and literally showed up on race day and put up a sign. Then they wondered why nobody showed up. I've had several people tell me that. Another problem is the fair board. They haven't seemed excited about the race in a years. There's also the NIMBY's (you can see houses off the backstretch in old racing videos). IndyCar and the ASA always drew well there, and had good ratings. It needs someone who can woo the fair board and ADVERTISE.

The airport and FAA? I'm not sure.
