True the race was up against NASCAR directly, but I figured at least 1,000,000 viewers.

Looked more like paid commercials interspersed with a few minutes of race cars.

Texas has been a horrible race for a long time now nobody should be surprised. I am not sure why they can't get the formula right for that track it has produced some of the best Indycar races in the past.

That’s bad even if they were racing in a parking lot somewhere.

The other thing - if they make the track 'too good' then we risk having the cars up to the speeds they were turning when CART found out that those speeds exceeded to long term capacity of the human body.

I am not sure why they can't get the formula right for that track it has produced some of the best Indycar races in the past. Getting rid of the track compound would go a long way to bringing back good racing at Texas. Which would also stop the drivers, teams, and networks from complaining about the traction compound all week before the race, which does wonders for ratings. They have to WANT to run ovals for anyone to take them serious, and from what I've seen, they don't. Remember what I said years ago about the different cultures...

807,000 viewers for Indycar. I’m sure some of that was assisted by the NASCAR sandwich.

"NBC averaged 1.303 million viewers for it's broadcast of IndyCar's Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, making it the most-watched non-Indy 500 race ever in the network's history & the most-watched IndyCar race at the track since 2008."

I think these start times around noon are really good for Indycar.
