Looks more like the metallic part of the halo is fine. The carbon fiber covering not so much.

When you look at the car wedged in the guardrail you can see that the chassis was sheared in two by one of the guardrail support posts. He was so lucky that the impact was where it was.

Monaco couldn't be run without guardrails. Most tracks still have them.

Accidents like these are chaos theory in action. As bizarre as it sounds the way I see it the survivor cell piercing the guardrail might have saved Grosjean life. A saferbarier there would have been better but that was a very unusual place for a car to hit at that speed.
