"Debating Tony's motives and CART's failure isn't going to go anywhere " yes, correct. So why bring it up in the first place? Because I found it ironic P&G wanted to go back to the same rule (right down to the "25") to prevent faster outsiders from racing. Pot, meet kettle. It was fun on social media, apparently there's a lot of P&G fanboys here. I think there's a big difference between what Tony George was trying to do and what Penske and Ganassi are looking at. In 1996 there wasn't a shortage of open wheel teams so Tony was using the guaranteed spots as leverage to build his field. Right now, that's not the case. There is obviously a shortage and I can see how the possibility of missing the race that by far gets the most attention during the season could scare off potential sponsors. It would have been easy for Arrow to look at what happened to Hinchcliffe last year and ask why they were involved in a series that would allow that to happen, leaving him and the team with a budget hole. I'm much more in favor of guaranteeing spots now than back then.

I wish I could comment... I'd love to hear your opinion of the IRL, CART, Tony, and all the rest. Maybe someday. Off the property.

I predict all of the full time entrants will make the field. I predict Mann, Hanley, and Davison will be heading home on May 19. The third Foyt car is strictly a lease and don't think it will be that great. Hanley lucked out at St. Petes due to red flags but has been kind of slow everywhere else. Davison is driving the Coyne rental car for the month of May. Coyne's one-off 500 cars have kind of sucked. With much emphasis placed on Bourdais, then Ferrucci, I am not sure Coyne will be able to devote as much to Davison.
However, I could be completely off!😜

Daly's car was kind of cobbled together, from what I gathered so he did a pretty good job.

Cant wait to watch some real racing. Its incredible we are getting that in an oval. Back to basics with more human factor, less electronics, gimmicks and nonsense.
