I care because I thought it was corporate coup from the beginning and typical Japanese nationalistic weasel work, others disagreed. And the fact that Ghosn is gone makes Renault exiting F1 much more probable. Also until the racing starts what else is there to discuss?

I thought the same because the information used against Ghosn could only have come from internal Nissan Corp management. They effed him out the door. |

Ghosn is going to need a much bigger smoking gun than this because it was obvious from the start Nissan loyalist wanted the deal to go sour. Unless he can prove they put the houses and apartment in his name without his knowledge, or the money in his account behind his back, or that they should have alerted him he was breaking Japanese law this news doesn't change much.

For an "innocent" guy, who is not a rat, he sure is crafty to bribe people to being smuggled out of the country in a trash dumpster.
To me he was another corporate crook. There are many ways companies get rid of CEOs graciously and it involves many briefcases full of gold. He got caugh with his hands in the cookie jar. That was all.

Michael Taylor was sentenced Monday to two years in prison, while his son Peter was sentenced to one year and eight months. They were charged with helping a criminal in the December 2019 escape of Ghosn, who hid in a big box that was flown on a private jet via Turkey to Lebanon. Lebanon has no extradition treaty with Japan. In handing down the sentencing, Chief Judge Hideo Nirei said they had committed a serious violation of the law, as now there is next to no chance of putting Ghosn on trial. "This case enabled Ghosn, a defendant of a serious crime, to escape overseas,” he said.
