Just got around to watching 'Uppity'.
Gotta say, there are several people whom I used respect in varying degrees that I now hate from the bottom of my heart. Hobbs, Roush, Leffler, Pruitt, etc. Still loving Humpy Wheeler.
I have heard bad things about Roush from a number of sources.

Fellow I worked with became an instant fan when Willy qualified at Indy. I broke his heart twice once when I said it was no reflection on Willy as a driver but he'd be lapped inside of the first 20 green laps and again when that turned out to be true. It was a good story but just bad equipment.

Sounds like Ohio. Very depressing indeed. My g/f is a teacher and their plan to conduct school next fall is this. The district would be divided into into 4 quadrants. Students from each quadrant would attend school one day a week. Distant learn the other four. She is not happy about this set up as she teaches multi-handicapped kids and they need a minimum of three days in the classroom. One day for learning, one day for activities, and one day for re-hab. Not sure you can do that in one day. You can forget about fall sports if they do this. I mean this is five months off. Unreal.

I should have said that was in '93 when he started 30th in A Walker Racing car with a Ford engine. He did finish in 21st but was something like 6 laps down. It's been a couple months since I watched Uppity but I seem to remember it was played like the year he had the Buick engine ('91) was the only story worth telling of Willy and Indy.

That was the year Walker had all his eggs in the Scott Goodyear basket. Willy and King Hiro were afterthoughts. 1994 was a disaster. Walker had all his eggs in Robbie Gordon's basket. Willy and maybe it was Hiro, or maybe it was Mark Smith really struggled at Indy. Walker brought John Andretti in to shake their cars down and try to see what was up. Both failed to qualify.

Being a millennial, I think it is cute to hear the generation Xers or whatever they are today carry on about how there should be bumping at Indy and how important it is to the integrity of the event. They are the same folks who raved about last year's made for tv special starring Fernando Alonso. I laughed. They haven't seen real bumping. Some weren't even born last time there was real bumping.

Remember it well - went from winning with the MB 'stock block' and dominating the Month of May in 1994 to not being able to qualify in 1995.

Are we bored enough to rehash the split? I have to tell my students about F1 in 2000s - makes me feel old.
