The situation wasn't bad to begin with until the county politicians decided they needed to be involved again. Where it all goes.................... The land around the former Fort Ord base becomes more valuable every day.

So no more old guys in straw hats answering questions? Actually, SCRAMP may not be completely out of the picture, but I think it's definitely the end of an era.

Sounds as if SCRAMP has had some internal management dysfunction over the past several years, with long time CEO Gil Campbell leaving SCRAMP in may.

IMO, problems could be solved if Laguna Seca wasn't a public park, and was instead private property. You also have to know that Portland International Raceway and Monza in Italy are part of a public municipal park system, but they don't have the problems that Laguna Seca has had with confrontations between management and owners.

There wasn't much choice there, the track was built on Ft Ord land, and then the Feds gifted it to the county. There was some advantage to that, like having running water in the outer areas of the track. The real problem seems to have started when when a county supervisor got the idea that the track should be a big revenue producer, like, you know, those NASCAR tracks.

And like county supervisors everywhere - wants NA$CAR return$ without $pending money, thus the conflict with SCRAMP and anyone else that will attempt to actually operate the track.

New Management at Laguna Seca. The County is "Partnering" with a private (for profit) company called Freinds of LagunaSeca. Hmmm...They promise to invest 40 or 50 mil into the track. Double hmmm....

Or Thermal and have a different race for the finale. I’ve been hearing possibly Nashville. I think long term if Laguna Seca goes away, Thermal is added in the Spring and Milwaukee is added later in the season.
