This photo has been photoshopped. It is not an accurate representation of the relative width of those 911s. The License Plates measure the same!

This photo has been photoshopped. It is not an accurate representation of the relative width of those 911s. The License Plates measure the same! So? Look at how the rear trunk line of the older car is warped inward at the bottom, not straight. In real life the trunk line is dead straight. The older car's body has been squeezed while the new one stretched. The photo doctor was smart enough to maintain the accuracy of the license plate area since altering that would be an obvious give away of his/her deception.

I won't argue but, the original 911/912 had a rear track-width that was narrower than the front track. And look at the body width compared with the passenger seating inside. The difference is enormous!

So is there an accurate photo comparison?

Just look at the tires, for gosh sakes! Those alone make the difference of almost a foot! Not all models have wheels/tires as huge as the one on the right.

The difference is enormous! It is not enormous. The actual width different between the two 911 models actually in the photo is only 5.5". And the new 911 pictured is a wide body car. If you compare a new narrow body 911 to the 1964 model the width difference is only 3.5" That photo has been circulating around the Internet for about three years now. A 2018 Porsche 991 is only 4 to 6 inches wider than the original 1965 911. That photo has been altered, enormously!

This is not the 911 model featured in the photo.

So is there an accurate photo comparison? 1964: 1040kg. 4163mm (l), 1670mm (w), 1321mm (h), 2210mm (wheelbase). 2017: 1505kg. 4499mm (l), 1808mm (w), 1294mm (h) 2450mm (wheelbase).

The cars are not comparable: Original and Current! Why should they be? Look at the weight difference: More than 1000 lbs heavier now. And it shows! The picture exaggerates the size of the closer car, of course.

I can't find one single photo that doesn't exploit perspective to exaggerate. The new car is always in the foreground so, the jury is still out as to (how much) bigger the car has become.
