Some Porsche history from Motorsport Magazine January 1991:
Andial Racing - USA
The name is seen in almost any picture of GTP sports car racing in America; Andial. Every Porsche carries the logo, and in the past ten seasons of Camel GT competitions Andial-built engines have powered all of Porsche's 59 victories (including the March-Porsche successes of 1983-84). The company had become an unofficial extension of Porsche's Weissach research and development centre and cementing the relationship, director Alwin Springer is now Porsche's general manager of sports car racing for North America, succeeding his late friend and mentor Al Holbert.
Right now Porsche's competitions policy is at a crossroads, both in Europe and in America, and Springer will spend most of December in Germany, trying to formulate a new policy. lndycar racing has been abandoned before its time and the factory's priority is clearly stated: to develop the 3½-litre Formula 1 engine for the Footwork Porsche team. That, however, leaves thousands of people with an uncertain future, not only team owners and drivers but mechanics, suppliers; people in Europe, America and Japan whose livelihoods depend on Porsche's industry of sports car racing.
Springer has his priorities sorted out in his mind. First he will concentrate on next year's IMSA GTP championship with three teams, those of Rob Dyson, Reinhold Joest and Jochen Dauer, believing that at last, the rules will encourage further Porsche victories.

The rear lighting treatment does not do it for me. I will be sticking with the 991.

Barn-find Porsche 901 makes post-restoration debutAn early production run Porsche 911 found in a barn and purchased by the Porsche Museum has made its first public post-restoration appearance, competing in the Hamburg-Berlin Classic rally. *Der Trödeltrupp* – a German TV show with a premise akin to treasure-hunting – discovered a rare original 911, later identified as 911 chassis no.57, built in October 1964 and bearing the ‘901’ designation. It was discovered in amongst a private car collection which resembled something more akin to a car graveyard, with a very second hand-looking BMW 745i, Audi 80 and several Mercedes-Benzes scattered around a site in which the 901 was hidden. Purchased by the Porsche Museum, it sold for €107,000, a remarkable sum of money given the car’s extremely dilapidated condition at the time of discovery. Rust had taken over swathes of the rotting 901, destroying its engine, brakes and much of the bodywork. Even both front fenders were missing entirely. Porsche Classic spent three years painstakingly restoring the 901 to original condition, using as many original specification components as possible. Nearly a year after its restoration was completed in 2017, the 901 finally hit the road, competing in the 375 mile Hamburg-Berlin Classic rally. So what are you doing to celebrate our 70th anniversary? I'm getting a 2.5 16V rebuilt by Tim Comeau Racing in San Diego for my '87.

This Porsche 919 Scale Model Cost More Than All Three of My Real Cars CombinedFor $14,689, you can do a whole lot better car-wise than this 1:8 scale Le Mans race car. But it's still cool. Porsche is selling a 1:8 scale model of its Le Mans-winner Porsche 919 Hybrid race car, and I couldn't help but notice that its $14,689 price tag is more than what I paid for all three of my real, actual, running cars combined. That is a lot of money for a scale model. In case you're wondering, the cars in question are my $10,500 V10 BMW M5, a Miata I purchased a couple months back for $1400, and a Subaru WRX hatch I bought last weekend for $3000. Now, I know what you're thinking, and yes, all of that adds up to $14,900, which is more than the 919 list price. But with sales tax of 8.25 percent in my state, the real price for the model (for me, anyway) is more like $15,900, which, coincidentally, is enough to purchase a brand new Ford Fiesta.
