The first recorded IndyCar race, the 1905 Morris Park 5 in the Bronx. The first National Championship race held by the AAA, five cars entered the 3.5 lap race. Louis Chevrolet won in a Fiat. The race lasted 4 minutes and 48.8 seconds. As a horse track, Morris Park hosted the Belmont Stakes and the Preakness. Other races that first season included Hartford, Yonkers, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo, Readville Mass, Syracuse, Pawtucket RI, and Poughkeepsie NY.
