Pedrosa: "I always complain about the same problems": Dani Eleventh in Qualifying: "I suffer too much with the front, in the race the first laps will be decisive, since I won't have to waste time"
Mat Oxley: Don't be fooled by Marc's 6th on the grid. He damaged his #1 bike, which had a special Motegi set-up, when he crashed in FP4, so he had to revert to his #2 bike with standard set-up for Q2

Congratulate @andreadovizioso you have been a rival dignísimo against one of the best pilots in history. It is not easy to put against the ropes to the 93 and he has succeeded on many occasions. It reminds Me of Sete when he faced Rossi.

David Emmett: Alvaro Bautista will replace Jorge Lorenzo at Phillip Island. Makes some sense, as he will be a factory rider for Ducati in WorldSBK next year. No word yet on who takes Bautista's place in Aspar
Mat Oxley : Marquez dislocated a shoulder on his victory lap, when Redding gave him a hug. Apparently it happens all the time, when he's training etc. Imagine racing a 260bhp bike/carbon brakes etc like that. Guess he needs it very heavily strapped when he rides
Simon Patterson : Bizarre and horrible injury for @bobendsneyder today. He has an open fracture of his tibia after the engine exploded and launched something out of the side of the casing and into his leg
Fabio Quartararo : Disqualified. Tire pressure was 0.02 too low. Really happy about my week-end. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger P1
JESUS SANCHEZ SANTOS : What is amazing is that it is @valeyellow46 only 9 points from the championship with the Yamaha that has between the legs. If I had a bike at its height, I have no doubt who would have been the rival until the end this year...

Small mistake costs Dovizioso 21.10.2018 BSN Aaron Rowle Andrea Dovizioso said he wasn’t riding over the limit and a small mistake is why he crashed out of the Japanese Grand Prix in Motegi, subsequently handing Marc Marquez his fifth MotoGP crown in Japan. The Italian needed to beat Marquez in order to keep the World Championship alive and looked as if he had a chance of doing so, sat right behind the Spaniard on the penultimate lap of the race. Unfortunately for the Italian, he lost the front end of his factory Ducati. With Dovizioso crashing out of the race, Marquez went on to win the race easily and won the title. Dovi said that his crash wasn’t a cause of being over the limit, but instead made a small mistake. “I tried to win the race, but I wasn’t over the limit when I crashed,” said the factory Ducati rider. “I just made a small mistake because I wanted to prepare to the exit in a better way, because I was accelerating really good, but I couldn’t get close enough to Marc and try to overtake him in braking. “I did a lap and a half like this and I wanted to do this immediately, and I did a small mistake. I had a lot of angle when I prepare the corner and it was too early. I asked for too much from the front tyre.” Despite forming a rivalry with Marquez over the last 18 months, there has always been a level of respect between Dovizioso and Marquez and the Italian wanted to congratulate the World Champion on his achievement. “I think he did something special,” he said. “He tried to stay with me until the last seven laps, so we can just congratulate him. “They did another special year. They won, this is normal because they did something better than everybody, he has more than 100 points to everybody.”

Upgrades help Rins secure podium finish 21.10.2018 BSN Aaron Rowles Upgrades from the Suzuki factory helped Alex Rins to his third MotoGP podium of the season in Motegi. The Spaniard benefitted from Andrea Dovizioso sliding out from second place whilst trying to prevent Marc Marquez from winning the World Championship, by moving up from fourth to third place. This marked Rins’ third podium of the season and Rins said that the upgrades brought by his Ecstar Suzuki team have continuously seen his GSX-RR improve. “They are working really hard,” said the 22-year-old. “In Assen we changed the engine and we are using one with a little but more power on the high speed. Since there they are bringing new things, new fairings. Then here we raced with a different one, looks like new winglets. “They want to win and I am very happy to be part of them and trying to go faster.” The Spaniard said that earlier battles with Valentino Rossi and his factory Suzuki team-mate Andrea Iannone saw him use a little too much front tyre and meant he was suffering with chatter from the front of his bike. “I’m very happy, since yesterday we knew that our race pace was good for trying to fight for third,” he said. “From the start I overtook many riders and I had good battles with Valentino and Iannone. I destroyed the front tyre there a little bit because then with Cal I had some chattering on the front. “But anyway I am very happy to be here, because the whole race I learned a lot because when Andrea crashed, the gap to Cal was like 0.7/1 second and I pushed really hard to overtake him and I pushed really hard, but I am happy.”
