Torres ready for Buriram after debut 24.09.2018 BSN 'Hey, Hodgingson, I watch you when I was little...' WorldSBK star Jordi Torres made his MotoGP debut at the Aragon round and after only a couple of hours on the Avintia Ducati, using Michelins for the first time, trailed winner Marc Marquez by less than a minute after 23 laps of the Spanish circuit. Torres, who has GP experience in Moto2, was just one second behind team-mate Xavier Simeon who has ridden for the team all year, using a two-year-old Ducati GP16 and is now looking forward to an outing at Buriram - a track he knows well - should Tito Rabat not be fit. “To complete my first Grand Prix in the MotoGP class was a very emotional experience. A dream came true and I enjoyed every moment of it. It helped me to understand tyre wear, how the bike changes over the distance and how you have to adapt your riding style to the decreasing fuel load,” said Torres. “But to be honest, not a lot of this sank in and every time I saw myself getting closer to the front, I made more mistakes. I tried to stay cool during the race and to concentrate on my riding position, but I’m still too rigid on the bike. I would have liked to stay with another rider in the race, but nevertheless, I am very happy. Now we’ll have to wait and see if Tito will fly to Thailand or not. I am prepared for whatever is needed.”

Lorenzo in doubt for Buriram MotoGP after hospital visit
25.09.2018
Ducati’s Jorge Lorenzo could miss the upcoming Buriram MotoGP round after a visit to hospital showed his injured foot is still considerably swollen following the turn-one crash that ended his Aragon challenge.
Lorenzo fired a broadside at Marc Marquez after the race saying it was all the Repsol Honda man’s fault even though there was no evidence of any contact whatsoever between the two Spaniards. Lorenzo later revealed on Twitter that Marquez had called him to see how he was.
The former world champion dislocated a toe and broke a metatarsal in the crash, and had to be stretchered away from the scene after initially getting up and hobbling towards the barriers.
Although Lorenzo didn’t talk with race director Mike Webb about the incident, he said he intends to bring it up at the Safety Commission meeting in Thailand should be attend.

Jorge Lorenzo: "I'm wrong, helpless and angry with what happened because Marc's entry has made me unable to enter, I've gone long to the dirty area and to avoid being passed I've opened gas and I've gone from behind. My foot is busted, dislocated finger and another fractured "

Mat Oxley Aragon was the first time Suzuki has had two bikes within 2.6s of the win in the dry since 1979 (!) when half the grid rode RG500s. I really believe they will only really challenge for title victory if they put more bikes on the grid.

Torres back with Avintia for Thailand Peter McLaren 1 Oct 2018 Jordi Torres will make his second MotoGP appearance, with Reale Avintia Ducati, at this weekend's inaugural Thailand round. Tito Rabat is still not yet fit to return from the fractured femur, tibia and fibula suffered at Silverstone and needs 'a few more weeks of patience before getting back on his Ducati GP17'. Torres was at the back of the field on his MotoGP debut at Aragon, but only 0.637s from team-mate Xavier Simeon in qualifying and within one-second of the Belgian by the end of the race. “After the great experience of Aragon, where I had to absorb a lot of information over the weekend to adapt to my riding style to the MotoGP category, it's fantastic to have another chance and to get back on the bike in Thailand," Torres said.

Nick Harris Thailand 2018 – Facts and Stats
This is the first time Thailand has hosted a motorcycle grand prix event.
Thailand is the first new country to hold a grand prix event since Turkey in 2005.
Thailand is the 30th country to host a grand prix event since the world championship series began in 1949.
The Chang International Circuit was opened in 2014 and has hosted the World Superbike Championship for the last three years.
The Chang circuit is the 28th different venue to host a grand prix event since the four-stroke MotoGP class was introduced in 2002.
The Thailand circuit is one of only two on this year’s schedule where Marc Marquez has not had a MotoGP victory – the other is the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Marc Marquez can clinch the 2018 world title by winning the races in Thailand and Japan, even if closest challenger Andrea Dovizioso finishes second on each occasion.
Andrea Dovizioso has finished on the podium at the last four races – his longest run of successive podium finishes since moving up to the MotoGP class in 2008.
This will be the 37th different circuit where Valentino Rossi has competed at a grand prix event.
Jorge Lorenzo has failed to score any points in the last two races. He has never gone three successive races without scoring points during his time in the MotoGP class.
No Yamaha rider has finished in the top three at the last four races, equalling the longest barren podium sequence for Yamaha since 2007. The last time that Yamaha went five premier-class races without a podium was in 2003.
Last year Danilo Petrucci scored 124 points, which was the highest single season total for a Ducati rider in an Independent Team. If he finishes 10th or better in Thailand he was surpass this total with four races of the season remaining.
Suzuki have already had five top three finishes in 2018 – their best haul of podium finishes since 2007.
Bradley Smith is scheduled to make his 100th start in the MotoGP class in Thailand. He is just the fifth British rider in the 70-year history of motorcycle grand prix racing to reach the milestone of 100 premier-class starts, joining: Cal Crutchlow, Jeremy McWilliams, Ron Haslam and Niall Mackenzie. He is the youngest British rider to reach the milestone of 100 premier-class starts.
