Le Mans Built in 1965 around the existing 24-Hour track, the Le Mans Bugatti Grand Prix race circuit lies 5km south of the city of Le Mans and 200km south-west of Paris. The venue has hosted Grand Prix since the late sixties but a serious accident to Spanish rider Alberto Puig in 1995 saw it struck off the calendar until 2000 whilst stringent safety improvements were carried out. Le Mans is a tight track dominated by first gear corners that place the emphasis on late braking and hard acceleration, whilst rear end traction is also a key area. With the capacity to comfortably accommodate up to 100,000 spectators, the Bugatti circuit also plays host to the 24 hour truck race, the FIA GP2 Championship, French Touring Car and GT races.

Dixon and Alonso lead Moto2™, Moto3™ Jerez Test timesheets The British and Colombian riders were quickest as both classes complete an important day of private testing in Andalucia A day after the MotoGP™ Official Test, the majority of Moto2™ and Moto3™ teams took part in an Official Test at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto and emerging quickest from both classes were CFMOTO Aspar Team duo Jake Dixon and David Alonso. Moto2™: In the final session of the day, Dixon set a 1:40.394 - a new unofficial lap record - as the British rider, plus the Red Bull KTM Ajo and Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP riders, got to grips with the WP Suspension they're racing for the first time in 2024. Dixon’s time was 0.184s quicker than second place Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia), with Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) third overall as the Italian looks to find crucial gains to get his title chase up and running. Moto3™: As he was all weekend at the Spanish GP, Alonso was fastest in the lightweight class. The Colombian clocked a 1:43.948, with his closest challenger on the timesheets being Sunday’s winner Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) – the Dutchman’s best effort standing at a 1:44.273. Veijer was the only rider to lap within half a second of Alonso, with third place going the way of Luca Lunetta (SIC58 Squadra Corse) – the Italian’s personal best being a 1:44.658. The riders and teams will now pack up and head home before switching into French GP mode next week.

MotoGP™ to race at Assen until 2031 The legacy will continue as the TT Circuit Assen is confirmed to host the world’s most exciting sport for a further five seasons A new agreement between MotoGP™ and the TT Circuit Assen confirms the classic Dutch venue on the MotoGP™ calendar until 2031, extending its previous agreement that ran until 2026. Assen is a fan favourite thanks to its incredible layout, fantastic atmosphere and unique final chicane, the latter of which has been the stage for many of the sport’s most iconic moments, then and now. It’s also MotoGP™s longest-serving venue, having hosted Grand Prix motorcycle racing since the inaugural 1949 season – a unique feat on the modern calendar. 2025 will be another milestone year as Assen celebrates the centenary of the very first TT. Welcome to the future of MotoGP™: new bikes in 2027 Safer, more sustainable and even more spectacular – get ready for more MotoGP™ than ever as new regulations land in 2027 MotoGP™ will introduce new bikes from 2027, with new regulations set to make the sport safer, more sustainable and even more spectacular. The new machines will be more road relevant and more efficient, powering global sustainability, and are designed to create even better racing and even more overtaking. Welcome to the future of MotoGP™. ENGINES From 2027, engine size will be reduced from 1000cc to 850cc. This will decrease top speeds, making the sport safer, and increase mileage, making it more efficient and sustainable. The maximum bore will reduce from 81 to 75 millimetres, which will also limit performance. This makes the engines more road-relevant at the same time as ensuring they keep the characteristics that make MotoGP™ as spectacular as it is.To make the sport even more efficient, the maximum number of engines allowed for each rider in a season will also reduce, from seven to six. FUEL As already announced, MotoGP™ will race with 100% sustainable fuel from 2027 – rising from the minimum 40% the sport has raced with since 2024. As part of the new regulations, fuel tank capacity will also reduce, from 22 litres to 20, and riders will be allowed to use 11 litres during the Tissot Sprint. AERODYNAMICS Aerodynamics will be reduced and more tightly controlled from 2027, with the aim of minimising their negative effects. The width of the top of the front fairing will be 50mm narrower and the nose will be pushed back 50mm, reducing the effect of aero where it matters, on the straights and the braking areas. This will create even closer racing, with even more overtaking. At the back, the aero behind the rider will be part of the homologation from 2027, and teams will only be allowed to update that once per season to control costs. RIDE-HEIGHT AND HOLESHOT DEVICES In the new era from 2027, all ride-height and holeshot devices will be banned. That will control performance and make the sport safer, especially during race starts. This will also give even more importance to the skill of each rider, just like aero, is aimed at increasing their ability to overtake. GPS DATA To level the playing field even further, GPS data from all riders will be available to all teams after each session. Providing data to all competitors offers better opportunity to progress for the less performing teams and riders, and at a controlled cost. Access to this range of data will help make the sport safer, and it will also increase the level of insight available to fans around the world. CONCESSIONS The current concession system, introduced at the end of the 2023 season, will continue – but as the new technical regulations come into force in 2027, all manufacturers will start the season in Rank B. They will then be assessed again mid-season, in summer 2027, and can change rank up or down to have access to more or less concessions. This reactive system means manufacturers’ performance is taken into account from Day 1, keeping the playing field as close as possible as a new era begins. 2024 Le Mans MotoGP FP1 Result: Martin Leads Acosta And Viñales By David Emmett | Fri, 10/May/2024 - 09:45 Jorge Martin ended the first session of free practice as fastest at a warm and sunny Le Mans. The Pramac Ducati rider put in a new set of tires at the end of the session to leapfrog past Pedro Acosta, who had gone the same route a little earlier in the session. Aprilia's Maverick Viñales was third fastest, just behind the GASGAS Tech3 rider, and a tenth of a second ahead of Ducati Lenovo teammates Enea Bastianini and Pecco Bagnaia.
With FP1 not counting for entry into Q2, riders and teams used a mixture of strategies. Some, like Martin and Acosta, chose to fit new tires at the end of the session. Others, like Bastianini, Bagnaia and Marc Marquez, chose to stick with just a single set of tires for the entire practice.
Brad Binder took a tumble through the gravel toward the end of the session, and Pedro Acosta pulled off a mesmerizing save at Turn 6, washing the front out completely yet keeping the bike upright.

2024 Le Mans MotoGP Practice Results: Jorge Martin Breaks Lap Lap Record By David Emmett | Fri, 10/May/2024 - 14:07 Jorge Martin continues to control the MotoGP class. The championship leader showed strong pace at the start of the session and put in a blistering lap at the end of the session to take top spot and dive under Pecco Bagnaia's outright lap record. Bagnaia tried to take his record back, but could not, the factory Ducati rider ending the session as second fastest.
Pedro Acosta continues to amaze on the Tech3 GASGAS machine, setting the third fastest time and comfortably the quickest of the KTM RC16 riders. Maverick Viñales is fourth fastest on the factory Aprilia, fractionally ahead of an impressive Fabio Di Giannantonio on the VR46 Ducati. Jack Miller is the only factory Red Bull KTM in the top ten, teammate Brad Binder having a nightmare of a session and crashing out twice this afternoon, making it three crashes on Friday after one in the morning, all at the final right handers.
Aleix Espargaro put the second factory Aprilia into the top ten, just a third of a second off the best time of Jorge Martin, while Franco Morbidelli showed the benefit of the Jerez test by putting the second Pramac Ducati into eighth. Marco Bezzecchi was ninth on the second VR46 bike, while Fabio Quartararo put in a superhuman effort on the Monster Energy Yamaha to grab the final spot in Q2.
Enea Bastianini and Marc Marquez both missed out on Q2. Bastianini crashed out on his final attempt, while Marquez was struggling with rear pumping that cost him time and left him outside the top 10.

2024 Le Mans Moto3 Practice 2 Result: Yet Another Record Breaking Session For Alonso By Zara Daniela | Sat, 11/May/2024 - 07:23 The lightweight class enjoyed another sunny start in France and David Alonso took advantage to spend some more time in the spotlight by improving his own lap record from Friday. With two minutes left of the session, rivals had a brief window to close the significant gap somewhat, with Collin Veijer as the most successful challenger, four tenths of a second behind the Colombian. The gaps were much smaller behind Veijer, with Ryusei Yamanaka and Angel Piqueras about a tenth off.
Joel Esteban added a second impressive rookie to the top five, closely followed by Joel Kelso and Jose Antonio Rueda, who returns to action after a couple of unfortunate medical issues. Riccardo Rossi snuck ahead of another noteworthy rookie, Xabi Zurutuza, while Dani Holgado completed the top 10 overall, courtesy of his time from Friday. Ivan Ortola narrowly missed out on the top 10 positions and although he was nearly a second off top spot, he safely makes it into Q2, alongside Adrian Fernandez, Taiyo Furusato and David Muñoz. The likes of David Almansa and Stefano Nepa missed out by only seven hundredths of a second and will have to battle it out in Q1.
