All Eyes Are on Americans at 24 Hours of Le Mans Scrutineering -All the teams must go through scrutineering on June 2-3, which is one of the more unique aspects of the great French sports car race. -LMDh cars share common hybrid components. -Except doing things like everybody else is a formula for finishing second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Americans will be at Le Mans in full view this year. What are the chances that one of the new LMDh Cadillacs backed by GM or one of the Porsches being run by Roger Penske can score an overall victory? Will American driver Ben Keating bring home a second straight winner’s trophy in the GTE Am class, this time with Corvette Racing. Can Glickenhaus repeat its podium performance? It’s a 24-hour, so anything can happen. But first, all the teams must go through scrutineering on June 2-3, which is one of the more unique aspects of the great French. Held at the Place de la Republique in the city center, scrutineering is akin to running a gauntlet. It will be the first-time through for the new LMDh cars of IMSA’s GTP class. Once through, the scrutiny is not over. At the dawn of the Group C prototype era in 1982, the Mirage M12 entered by Harley Cluxton, which Mario and Michael Andretti were scheduled to drive, was pushed off the starting grid just before engines were fired when a violation was spotted by inspectors. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/motorsports/all-eyes-are-on-americans-at-24-hours-of-le-mans-scrutineering/ar-AA1bWXpK?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=b13daeac2e404cddb06b8f25a6a47b55&ei=27&fbclid=IwAR1SzRd2yn6tJJvlF7Tu0-XG8gxTCsJN1bHBmVjvdxVUKHux6r4DInqHpIs

Ferrari Quickest Among Prototypes After Le Mans Test DayWhile times in the test session rarely reflect ultimate pace, all of Ferrari, Toyota, Cadillac, Porsche, and Peugeot are in the same competitive range early. After two full years of building buzz, the hundredth anniversary 24 Hours of Le Mans finally gets underway next Saturday. That makes today the official test day, the first chance for new top-class prototypes from Ferrari, Porsche, Cadillac, and Peugeot to get on track at the semi-temporary Circuit de la Sarthe. Through one day of timed testing, each manufacturer has at least some reason to be optimistic heading into the race weekend. Ferrari led both sessions, pacing the day with a quick time of 3:29.501 in the afternoon running. AF Corse's factory-backed 499Ps were two of just five cars to run in the 3:29s during the session, all during the afternoon. Two Porsche 963s and a single Toyota GR010 joined the Ferraris in the 3:29 range in the afternoon running, while a third factory Porsche, a Peugeot 9X8, and one of the Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac V-Series.Rs also added times below 3:30.673. So far, the surprising balance-of-performance changes made last week seem to have all five major manufacturers in the same competitive range. For comparison, Toyota paced this session with a fastest time of 3:29.896 last season. The team then put down a best time of 3:27.247 in group qualifying before ultimately setting the pole at 3:24.408 during the one-lap "Hyperpole" shootout on a clean track. Expect those qualifying practice sessions to be far more revealing of final race pace, but the early signs indicate that this could be a competitive race. www.roadandtrack.com/news/a44086466/ferrari-quickest-among-prototypes-after-le-mans-test-day/?source=nl&utm_source=nl_rdt&utm_medium=email&date=060523&utm_campaign=nl31694617&GID=11b43dee26f94976badd961e0ab345fa8ce1425df3d168010779bf218dcc9e39&utm_term=TEST-%20NEW%20TEST%20-%20Sending%20List%20-%20AM%20180D%20Clicks%2C%20NON%20AM%2090D%20Opens%2C%20Both%20Subbed%20Last%2030D

G56 looks so out of place. The car is HUGE even compared to the GTE cars.
On another note, they "won" the pitstop competition which immediately brought to mind the line from Ford Vs Ferrari, "they've got a damn NASCAR crew."

I love the shit out of this collab and what it represents. Winning the pitstop competition is icing on the cake. They used a hand jack. All others had the built in air jacks.

5th overall, but better than most of the HyperCarLMPDh2+BBQ crews, and better than the GTE crews. Using a handjack.

Two WeatherTech Championship Regulars Reach Le Mans Hyperpole QualifyingThe No. 3 Cadillac and No. 75 Porsche Make It into the Top Eight in the Hypercar ClassLE MANS, France – The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Series was well represented in opening qualifying Wednesday for this weekend’s “Centenary” celebration of the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the 8.467-mile Circuit de la Sarthe. Two entries that normally compete full-time in the WeatherTech Championship’s Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class qualified in the top eight of the Hypercar class at Le Mans. They’ll advance to Hyperpole qualifying on Thursday when the top eight cars in each of the three race classes – Hypercar, LMP2 and GTE AM – from Wednesday’s session will formally settle their class pole position and front four starting rows. Sebastien Bourdais turned a best lap of 3 minutes, 25.924 seconds in the No. 3 Cadillac Racing V-Series.R that ranked sixth fastest at the end of the session. Felipe Nasr had the No. 75 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963 initially in the sixth spot, but stewards deleted two of Nasr’s qualifying laps that dropped him to eighth with a top circuit of 3:26.589. www.imsa.com/news/2023/06/07/two-weathertech-championship-regulars-reach-le-mans-hyperpole-qualifying/?fbclid=IwAR22Z8USIkf6M9Hv6UvB1GCMvSr0sqdmkGqqP8H1BlIJHWrUAa42psHRsY8

I think Jimmy Johnson may get the start, and if so, none of them sporty-car fellers wants to get punted by the Cup car
