Fans have a lot of room to spread out in the stands.

That crowd is seriously embarrassing. Football is over and baseball is ready to start in California so fans don’t care too much there for racing.

Fans have a lot of room to spread out in the stands. That's putting it politely.

Not as much bump and run as I had expected - so far!

When the jackasses weren't being jackasses, it wasn't that bad. However, NASCAR needs to go elsewhere next year.

That joint holds close to 80,000 people. I would estimate the crowd around 50,000 or so, the front stretch stands were pretty full. The musical acts were . . .well there. But it was also Grammy night, so they couldn't get anyone bigger.
NASCAR really needs to think about this event. First off, if it is going to be at night you need to start it earlier, or move it to a Saturday night. A lot of kids (and more than a few adults) missed the end of the race. 16 cautions did not help. Quicken the pace on those. For many the car that spun was able to get off the track on its own, so why do we need 10 laps of caution. Quicky yellows. I know . . .commercials.
Was hard to get excited about anything. Halftime? Really? Anyone know who that rapper was? My daughters didn't know. Please. Ditch the halftime, this isn't football, just run the damn race.

I thought it was a decent race, but then I grew up going (and later racing on) 1/4 mile tracks. There were too many cars, a usual late model race, or a dirt late model race starts with 24 cars, sometimes less on a 1/4 mile.
The track held up well, again. That’s a big accomplishment, especially when it gets replaced every year.
NASCAR in a stadium? It was done in the early years at Bowman Gray and Soldier Field. NASCAR’s little brother races at the Akron Rubber Bowl which was not built for track and field events, it was a lot smaller.
It returns next year (California Speedway is closing to be rebuilt as a short track. That’ll be interesting in itself). There’s no way NASCAR is going to miss out on the second biggest media market in the US. So we have one more year of this. Hopefully with a few less cars. Run the heats and send half of the finishers home.
And cut the rap.

The crowd got bigger as the evening and the main event was about to roll off. I hear that’s common for Californians. It looked like over 50% capacity after the main event started. Attendance is always a hot topic when it comes to NASCAR. I’m not a promoter so I could care less, but some people follow that religiously.

Once a incident is acknowledged, throw the RED flag, return all moveable cars to the pits, clean the incident, one lap out of the pits and throw the GREEN.

NASCAR has one more year on the contract to host the Clash in LA. They will 99% chance to take it into next year as Auto Club will be out for 1-2 years as they redo everything. NASCAR will stay in the market for obvious reasons. After the Clash should be moved... even if Auto Club isn't ready. Host the All-Star race? Sure why not. If North Wilkesboro works out (better pull a high TV rating) then host the All-Star race in LA. Anyone who wants a points race in LA is out of their mind. Denny Hamlin wants it to be...

Gee, the mountains of North Carolina in early February, what could possibly go wrong. Remember when Rockingham was the second race of the year? Remember when it got cancelled because of a 8" snow storm the night before the race. Yeah, that was great.
IF the Clash is going to continue to be in Early February it simply has to be in a warm place. Even Florida can be iffy that time of year. The rest of the East and most of the mid-West. Unless, how about we pick up sponsorship from Blizzack tires and have them race in the snow!
