Morrow County health department has given Mid-Ohio the green light to run this event with limited spectators on August 7 through 9. Face masks must be worn in or out of buildings. No groups larger than 10 people can gather. Electronic tickets will be emailed out by this Friday (7-31). Interested in seeing how this all works out. My first Indy Car event during a pandemic.🥺
Indy Car already announced two weeks ago that it would be a two-day event (Saturday and Sunday). Since then, it is being reported that Indy Car is putting in a plan together to run a second race there. Mid-Ohio has said the weekend schedule and any additional corona protocols will be announced this week sometime. Kind of expecting an announcement on a second race from Indy Car in the next couple of days.
In the meantime, the Road to Indy Series will be running out there this Wednesday and Thursday (7-29 & 7-30). This was originally a closed door event but Mid-Ohio is allowing season ticket holders to attend now.
The RTI series will return for the August 7 thru 9 weekend as well. Slated to join them, in addition to Indy Car, will be the Mazda MX5 Cup and Robbie Gordon's Stadium Super Truck series.
Of course, this is all subject to change in a moment's notice.

There will be two 75 lap races. Pit, paddock, and grandstands will be closed. Limited number of tickets available.
I wonder what limited attendance means? <15,000?

I do hope that Mid-Ohio does a better job of enforcing their corona protocols than Road America did.

Mid-Ohio sent me email informing me that they would be issuing credits for my unused paddock and grandstand seats.

I do hope that Mid-Ohio does a better job of enforcing their corona protocols than Road America did. Thought the Wisconsin Supreme Court invalidated all Covid protocols in the state several months ago.

Well....from the sound of things there won't be much merch at the track. Will probably use it towards tix for next year.

Well, I am not surprised. I think they cancel the season now. Kinda of depressed right now. I was going through my camera gear, cleaning it, and ordered a new SD card and this....😥

I think DeWine shut it down. Something happened in the last 24 hours. Morrow County, where Mid-Ohio is, was a yellow level 1 county. Richland, where Lexington is, went from a red level 3 county down to a yellow level 1 county on Thursday so all was looking good for next weekend. They ran the RTI out there this past Wednesday and Thursday.
Absolutely no way the Indy 500 is run. If it is run, then we know M-O was sacrificed to protect their golden egg. I smell a class action lawsuit coming if refunds aren't offered.

It was okay for 40,000 people to protest, riot, and loot for days in Columbus and Cleveland back in June but less than 10K of us, maybe less, can't go out to M-O to watch Indy Cars.

So, on Thursday afternoon, Cleveland Browns informed single game ticket purchasers that they weren't going to be able to honor their tickets this season. Those ticket holders are getting a refund. Season ticket holders, I believe, had eight regular season games reduced to two games they could attend done previously.
What I am hearing is DeWine has lowered the boom on large gathering events, whatever. Whatever happened, happened in the last 24 hours. My understanding is Indy Car approached Mid-Ohio (Green/Savoree Promotions) about running next weekend behind closed doors. Fucking really? GSP has seen all of their events severely crippled. Toronto and Portland canceled and St. Pete's postponed, not likely to happen. So, what is Indy Car doing to make this up to GSP? Apparently not enough since GSP said no to that proposal. Running without fans is not a money maker. What a disaster.
