FWIW 2019 C7 Corvettes are being offered locally at anywhere from 5K to 12k off the MSRP. At least 12k off on the ZO6. A couple months ago when the C8 was announced there were some 9,000 unsold Vettes on the dealers lots.

Just a few options will push it over 70k in a hurry. I'd expect the ZR1 model, which some people think is already out and about on the streets in camo, to be comfortable around 120 to 130k. Still, a stripped out $60k car could make one hell of a track car.

How Chevy Created the 2020 Mid-Engine CorvetteWe go inside GM's proving grounds to find out how GM built a fake pickup truck and learned to reinvent its iconic sports car.About four and a half years ago, I drove the then-new Corvette Z06 at a track in Nevada. With 650 horsepower, the Z06’s rear tires struggled to cope with a firestorm of torque dispatched by the massive V8 sitting out ahead of the cockpit. For all its superlative capabilities, the Z06 needed more traction, more weight on the rear end. I told Tadge Juechter, Corvette executive chief engineer, “I think to do any better than this, you need to go mid-engine.” He assumed a look of weary annoyance and replied, “Yeah, that’s what everyone keeps telling me.” Which, you’ll note, was not a denial. Juechter had a good poker face, because back in Michigan, he and a team of engineers had been working on such a car since 2013. Disguised to look like a mutant Australian pickup truck, it was code-named Blackjack. Under its Holden bodywork, Blackjack was teaching GM how to build a whole new kind of Corvette. www.popularmechanics.com/cars/car-technology/a28426687/2020-corvette/?source=nl&utm_source=nl_pop&utm_medium=email&date=071919&src=nl&utm_campaign=17538542

I read somewhere the base model will have a weight of around 3,600 lbs. 60k is pretty much inline with the price steps for the last 2 models. Base C6 was around fifty, C7 was around 55.

True, but a mid-engine V8 sports car putting out around 500hp for $60k is a steal.

Almost no mention about a Corvette with coil springs.

Believe me, if the C8 rear end didn't offend me so much I would be on the waiting list right now.
