I have liked the 911 in all its years of existence and I do not think it has become "fat". It is a sexy beast that has changed with the times while retaining its essence.

Seen downtown S.B. behind an investment firm (where else) as I was arriving on a Metro Bus to shop for Groceries earlier this morning. Monterey Rally stickers imply it was recently there for the Concours etc.

The auctioneer's accent made the number indiscernible.

Found an interesting side by side. Two 911s from the same era. One wide body, one standard body.

Watch the 2020 Porsche Taycan Lay Down a 7:42 Nurburgring LapPorsche says the time is a record for four-door EVs on the Green Hell. As the all-electric Porsche Taycan edges closer to production, we're learning more about it. Last week, the company unveiled the car's touchscreen-laden interior. Now, we know how quickly it can lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife. A pre-production Taycan was able to lay down a lap of 7:42 on the 12.8-mile circuit, piloted by Porsche test driver Lars Kern. That makes it quicker than cars like the Mercedes-AMG E63 S wagon, the Volvo S60 Polestar, and the Honda Civic Type R, but slower than the Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy-R, BMW M5, and the Porsche's own Panamera Turbo. link

This 1959 Porsche 356 Limousine, Built for a Wedding, Can Be Yours at AuctionWe've seen some pretty strange cars come up for auction, but this is on a different level. It's a 1953 Porsche 356 coupe that was given a surprisingly high-quality limousine conversion. There are a ton of cool features inside, as well as an air-suspension system and the engine from a Porsche 912. The car is coming up for auction via RM Sotheby's as part of its Taj Ma Garaj sale on September 28 in Dayton, Ohio. According to RM Sotheby's, this 356 limo was built by Don Boeke of Egyptian Custom Body in Dayton, Ohio, at the request of the late John Dixon, owner of the Taj Ma Garaj collection. The car was reportedly commissioned for the wedding of Dixon's daughter. The body shop did most of the conversion work, including the disassembly and paint, while much of the interior work was outsourced to other shops. The original engine has been replaced with a rebuilt air-cooled flat-four from a Porsche 912. Porsche's Flat-Six-Powered Boxster and Cayman GTS are a Return to FormBy replacing the turbocharged flat-four with a 394-hp naturally aspirated flat-six, the new GTS 4.0 models bring back some Porsche magic that had been lost.It would be easy to fill pages with moon-eyed poetry praising the intoxicating zing of the new 718 GTS's 4.0-liter flat-six engine. Oh, the noises it makes hunting down the glory of 7800 rpm, all the while electrifying scalps, tingling spines, and purpling prose. Yet perhaps the most telling change over its four-cylinder turbocharged predecessor is a much smaller one and the first thing you notice when you start the car: The sewing-machine idle of the flat-four—that busy, not-quite-full-enough ticking reminiscent of an air-cooled Volkswagen Beetle—is gone. Fired up, the GTS 4.0 makes the full mechanical chatter that comes from having 50 percent more cylinders and valves. They sound like proper Porsches again. www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a30955079/2020-porsche-boxster-cayman-gts-drive/?source=nl&utm_source=nl_cdb&utm_medium=email&date=021820&utm_campaign=nl19429396

The 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S Has Optional Lightweight and Sport PackagesIf you don't want to wait for the GT cars to come out, Porsche will sell a more hardcore version of the current top-dog 992.While 992-generation Porsche 911s are now on sale, hardcore enthusiasts are still waiting on the more serious models to arrive. Sure, you can get the fantastic Carrera S and will soon be able to order the fire-breathing, 640-hp 911 Turbo S, but those are wicked quick luxury sports cars. Stripped-out track cars like the GT3 and GT2RS aren't yet available for this generation, so until they are, you might have to settle for a Turbo S with the new Lightweight and Sport packages. LINK

2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S: First DrivePorsche's most powerful, quickest, and heaviest 911 Turbo ever is beyond fast. But does it distance itself enough from the turbocharged Carrera models to matter? In our most recent Performance Car of the Year test, the staff of this publication crowned the Hyundai Veloster N the winner. My personal ranking, however, put Korea’s best three (and a half) door hatchback in second place, behind the Porsche 992 Carrera S, a vehicle whose only real flaw is that it costs more money than I have: around $130,000 for that test, loaded up with stuff. Travis Okulski, our editor-in-chief, was able to lap the 992 Carrera S around Thunderhill about a second quicker than I could. We can probably assume Ross Bentley–an R&T contributor, driver coach, and the author of Speed Secrets–could go even quicker, and today’s best racing talents could probably shave more time. The point? Porsche’s middle-of-the-road sports car is already demonstrably faster than me, someone who spends a lot of time on racetracks and in sports cars. Had the launch of the all-new 992 Turbo S gone as scheduled, Porsche probably would have reminded me of this by having Hurley Haywood, someone equally decorated, or German, guide lead/follow sessions at Laguna Seca in, say, a Macan, while I sweated bullets trying to keep up in a car with a 300 horsepower advantage. Thanks to the coronavirus, I wasn’t awarded the privilege of being shamed on track. Instead, on a rainy morning in March, Porsche awarded yours truly six hours all to myself in a car that won’t be out for a long time. Six hours is a tough amount of time; enough to try to get everything in that you could do with the car, but not enough time that you can just let opportunities come to you. www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/first-drives/a32067148/2021-porsche-911-turbo-s-first-drive/?source=nl

This 1960 Porsche Runge Special will blow your mind 1960 Porsche 356 Porsche purists should avert their eyes now. If you obsess over Porsche Club of America judging guidelines, this car will give you nightmares. If you appreciate creativity and passion and are in awe of anyone who can restore their own car, you’ll appreciate this one quite a lot. This is not a restoration, nor is it a kit car or replica. What you see here is a completely hand-built aluminum-bodied homage to the coach-built cars of the past. While the basic Porsche 356 mechanical layout is still there, this is a completely one-off design and the vision of Chris Runge, who built it in a Minnesota—a far cry from Stuttgart. With a hand-formed body structure, bare polished aluminum bodywork, and custom made, well… everything, this is a custom in the old-school fashion. It’s the vision of the coachbuilder and the man who commissioned him to build this in 2016. www.hagerty.com/media/buying-and-selling/ebay-find-1960-porsche-356/
