Sir Jackie Stewart secured Matra's first victory in torrential rain at the Dutch Grand Prix - it was also the first by a French manufacturer, the first by a Cosworth engine in anything other than a Lotus and the first by a car managed by Ken Tyrrell.

To complete a great day for the French aerospace company, Jean-Pierre Beltoise finished second in the Matra with their own V12 engine.
