^^ The highlights from Aramco are better than the NBC version. The talking head for Sramco has some humor though the NBC version is longer. :-)

I found the link I needed. Dakar for newbies. It explains a lot of it. But there's still parts I don't understand. Like when someone crashes or gets stuck. He or she finally gets to the daily finish line after dark. But they only dock em a couple of hours or what ever. :-)

Back in the day there were times when stage finishers came in very late at night. Dakar is now part of the Rally Raid series and one of their rules involves a set time in which a competitor has to complete a stage after which rather than forcing a withdrawal a time penalty is applied. There is a total time penalty limit for the race beyond which you can still be DQ'd.
