Local short track ace Marco Andretti blitzes the field for the win. America needs more pull yourself up by the bootstraps racers like this guy. Surprised we haven't seen him on Street Outlaws.

If they run this series again next year I don't think Paul Tracy will get an invite.

One thing the series did was highlight short track racing to a network audience.

There were good things about the series but I also think there is room to improve. I really like the idea of running the short tracks and having them televised. I wouldn't mind them replacing IRP with Kalamazoo or Berlin in Michigan or something similar. I would keep the same format except add 2 to 4 more cars. Then run two heat races with half the field in each one then everyone would run the feature race. What's really the point of everyone running three races in one night? The driver line up was ok but it seemed like the deck was stacked for Tony to win. I still think they would benefit from the cars looking more like street cars.

I think the SRX cars are right up there with the nascar COT from a few years ago on the ugly factor.

I know I've brought out the term before, but Good ShitTM. SRX is what it is. I think I would call the first season a success. Yeah, Tony won, it's his series and all but as far as I know he never tested the car and that was mostly Evernham's deal. From the post-race (both heat race when he clinched championship and post feature race) Tony made sure to make the IROC connection and stressed it's importance. Not sure if they are looking to expand the format or what but definitely there will be some tweaking. If I was a multi-millionare who had pull and what not, I'd recomend an expanded schedule, also an expanded field (just a couple of cars if necessary), and a points style F1 used for a bit which I think was awful at the time but makes sense with a format like this. The car is kinda meh, but it's meant to be a common platform, I think it could potentially put on a decent show at a street track. Hell, Gordon's Jumpy Trucks are pretty awesome if you actually get to see them in person.
