With the C8 Corvette Z06 recently announced as coming as a 2023 model, Chevy engineers are working hard to complete the development of the car. Of course, that means track testing which Chevy can do privately in the USA, but a trip to the Nurburgring means the car will have to appear in public.
Spy Photographer Brian Williams aka Speedbilde captured this nearly undisguised 2023 Corvette Z06 prototype as it was making the journey from the auto manufacturer’s garages to the Nurburgring. As the prototype Z06 was without the heaving black camouflage, we get one of the best looks yet at the new model.
That includes what looks to be production-ready front and rear fascias. The front fascia looks to have an additional cooling radiator in the center with two air ducts on either side. The rear fascia shows the quad exhaust tips mounted in the center with a newly designed bottom surround that completely integrates the center-mounted exhaust.
The side intake scoops are highly reminiscent of the scoops on the C8.R Corvette that are more angular and appear to be larger than those on the C8 Stingray. We’ve seen the unique rear wing previously which is mounted to just two stanchions instead of four like the C8 Stingray. Finally, concave-designed five-spoke wheels that look like they are made of carbon fiber are wrapped with Michelin cup tires and those large brake rotors appear to be similar to the Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes we’ve seen on the previous Z06.
GM has announced that the mid-engine Corvette Z06 will be revealed later this year. Until then, enjoy these pics as American’s Favorite Sports Car takes to the Nurburgring in Germany.
